Pedro Caballero

Executive Vice President, Board of Directors ~ Tukã Norte, Inc.
President, Board of Directors ~ Tukã S.A.

Pedro was born in rural Paraguay and learned self-reliance from an early age. He was just seven years old when his grandparents took him in, and speaking only Guarani, he learned Spanish so that he could attend the local school. At 13, he started his first business ~ selling ice and delivering food to pay for school supplies and clothing. While in high school he taught himself computer programming and switched to night school so that he could work in the IT department of a local auto parts company. But he wanted more. The American dream beckoned, and he immigrated to California, eventually becoming a US citizen. This time he had to learn English and start again, first as a stock boy, then working the floor at a local department store, then taking a 2nd job at a theater, then in the file room of a mortgage broker, and after many intervening positions, each better than the last, he worked his way up the ladder to become a branch manager of Wells Fargo Bank. But he never lost his entrepreneurial spirit, so after a year or two of research and a chance encounter with Jim Costello, the pair co-founded what is now Tukã, the encapsulation of Pedro’s dream of introducing his new country to the national beverage of his homeland.
